This site was launched on Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2022, in honor of the great civil rights leader.

Amendments 11 to 27 of the US Constitution

11th Amendment:  Federal courts may not hear lawsuits by a citizen brought against a state, unless the state consents.

12th Amendment: Establishes procedures for electing the President and Vice President of the United States.

13th Amendment:  You may not be enslaved.  You may not be conscripted into involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime, as in prison labor.

14th Amendment:  You may not be deprived of life, liberty or property, without due process of law.  No state shall make or enforce any law that abridges the privileges or immunities of citizens.  You may not be discriminated against, and you must be given equal protection of the laws (equal to other citizens).

15th Amendment:  All citizens have the right to vote regardless of race or color, and may not be denied the right to vote on account of race or color.

16th Amendment:  Congress shall have the power to collect taxes on incomes.

17th Amendment: Establishes procedures for electing senators.

18th Amendment: [Repealed by 21st Amendment; no longer in effect] banned sale and drinking of alcohol [1919 to 1933 only].

19th Amendment: All citizens have the right to vote regardless of gender, and may not be denied the right to vote on account of gender.

20th Amendment: Terms of office of elected officials.

21st Amendment:  Repealed 18th Amendment, effectively re-legalizing sale and consumption of alcohol.

22nd Amendment: Limits President to serve a maximum of two terms.

23rd Amendment: Residents of Washington DC may elect representatives to the Electoral College.

24th Amendment:  The right of citizens to vote shall not be denied or abridged due to non-payment of any poll tax or other tax.

25th Amendment:  If the President dies in office, the Vice President assumes the position of President.

26th Amendment:  Any citizen 18 years of age or older may register to vote and may vote.

27th Amendment:  Pay raises for Congress shall only go into effect following the next election.

[The 27th Amendment is the last enacted Amendment, although a variety of proposals for a 28th Amendment have been proposed.]
